We Would Rather be Cited than Clicked
You might think this is an unusual thing for a website to say. We agree. Let us explain.
Nowadays, people looking for professional advice in the UAE don't work their way down a page of blue links. They simply ask a question. An AI assistant, a chatbot, or a search engine answers not with a list of links, but an AI-generated overview. The user is presented with a summary answer to their question, and may or may not click through to the sources.
So, our proposition is not to 'rank'. It's to be worth quoting.
Online sources get quoted when they are accurate, structured, helpful, and independent. Each one of these is necessary for a news article, insight, or topic guide to be a candidate for AI citation. Both people and machines work out very quickly when any of these requirements is missing.
Our business model relies on our content meeting these four criteria:
- Accurate - up to date, fact-checked details, important sources referenced.
- Structured - clean sectioning and flow for readers, with structured markup that machines can read.
- Helpful - providing new context, expert insights, education, and adding reader value.
- Independent - neutral positioning, unbiased opinions, honest comparisons.
1. How We Are Funded
UAE Advisor Guide is funded by fixed listing fees, which are published in full on our company and advisor rate cards.
We accept no commission, affiliate fee, revenue share, per-signup or per-click payment, success fee, finder's fee or equity from any firm or professional listed on this site.
This applies across every part of our business, regardless of the tier of any individual listing - whether an unclaimed free profile or a Gold Partner company. No listed firm pays us more because a reader clicked, enquired or signed up (including offers and promotions that our partners may carry within their profile).
No commercial relationship - whether current, prospective, or declined - influences which firms we write about, how we rank them, or how we describe them.
Every paid-for listing is a product at a published price, available on identical terms to anyone who qualifies for it. Some products may be limited, such as our launch partner positions; but if taken up, the terms are the same for everyone.
2. Articles vs Profiles
- Paid-for Profile pages are commercial space. Where a listing has been bought, the firm's profile page can carry its own description, its own links, and its own offers, within the limits of its tier.
- Articles are editorial space. Our guides, insights, news and comparisons are created by our in-house team - strictly following our rules for accuracy, structure, helpfulness, and independence. Links may cross from editorial space into commercial space, but only on editorial merit.
3. Internal Links to a Company's Profile Page
When we name a company in an article for editorial reasons, we generally link to that company's profile page on this site, so users can see who the company is, what their licensed activities are, and the applicable regulator.
Any mention must be justified within the context of the article. A linked sentence in an article must exist for good editorial reason; else it is deleted (not just the link, the whole sentence). This rule is tier-blind, applying equally to Gold Partners and to free unclaimed profiles. Our internal links are unbiased, showing no favouritism to paid profiles over free.
4. Outbound Links to a Company's Website
- From the Company Profile page - we link to the website of every listed company, together with a location map and other links useful to someone researching them. These outbound links come from being included in our directory, whether or not the company is a paying customer. Unclaimed listings carry the same links as paid ones.
- From our Editorial articles (News, Insights, Guides, Glossary) - links out to a firm's website appear for just one reason: a specific page was a source we relied on in writing the piece (the exact page, not the homepage). This extends to primary documents and factual claims a user might reasonably want to check for themselves - such as a published fee schedule, a regulator's licence entry, industry data, expert opinion, or a report. We cite good sources that we rely on, whether or not they are our customer.
- From Expert Contributed articles - external links that appear within an Expert Contributed article must follow the same rule as for our editorial articles: the link must be to a specific page (not the homepage) cited as a relevant source for the article. A direct homepage link is only allowed in the Author Note footer, described in Section 7.
5. Link Attributes
Across the UAE Advisor Guide site, because outbound links are neutral, justified, and tier-blind (even free profiles get links back to their company website), we generally do not mark them as sponsored.
The HTML 'rel' attribute is a signal to search crawlers about why a link exists. Google's documentation defines rel='sponsored' as marking "links that are advertisements or paid placements (commonly called paid links)", and says links carrying it "will generally not be followed" - meaning no ranking credit passes from the source page to the target.
To correctly comply with these requirements, thus protecting the credibility of the entire uaeadvisorguide.com site, we assign rel='sponsored' in the following specific cases:
- Links from profile blocks that are tier-dependent. A paid-for profile may include special blocks such as Custom Links and Partner Offers (see Section 6). Links from such sections are correctly 'sponsored'.
- When an Expert Contributed article is published. It is permitted for links within the article to point to specific pages of the contributor's company website (only when justified as a source; not the homepage). Within the Author Note footer, described in Section 7, a direct link to the company homepage is permitted. Because Expert Contributed articles are a feature of the Gold Partner tier only, all such links are correctly 'sponsored'.
6. Partner Offers
Gold Partners may run promotional offers to prompt new customer enquiries. A Gold Partner profile may include a Partner Offer block where one clearly marked promotion can be placed. This is a published feature of the tier, available to every Gold listing on identical terms. Offers must never appear in article bodies, in comparison tables, or in further-reading lists.
Partner Offers must comply with the following:
- The wording is formally approved by the company's compliance function, if the firm is regulated.
- The offer conditions are stated clearly in the block - how someone qualifies, and what they receive. A terms page can be linked to, but important aspects of the offer must be summarised in the offer block.
- Every offer carries a line confirming that UAE Advisor Guide receives no commission, fee or other benefit if taken up.
- Each offer carries an expiry date and is reviewed on a set cycle.
- All offers require final approval by UAE Advisor Guide, with attention to financial promotions legislation and consumer protection requirements.
7. Expert Contributed Articles
Gold Partner firms may contribute by-lined articles, written by a named senior executive under the designation 'Expert Contributor'. This is a feature of the paid partnership. Most Expert Contributed articles will be Insights, but substantive evergreen pieces may be considered for Guides.
Expert Contributed articles must follow our requirements of accuracy, structure, helpfulness and independence. We may edit pieces for clarity and house style; we'll decline any that read as advertising. We will add machine-readable schema markup to the article upon publication.
Expert Contributors are required to hold an individual profile listing on this site. Every Expert Contributed article concludes with an Author Note footer, separate from the main article body: one or two sentences establishing who the author is and the company they work for.
The Author Note footer links to their individual profile page, and optionally links to the contributor's company website homepage. Because Expert Contributed articles are a feature of the Gold Partner tier only, such links are correctly 'sponsored' as set out in Section 5. On the individual profile page we also list and link that author's contributed articles.
Additionally, Expert Contributors feature on a combined single 'Panel of Experts' page, with profile image and category of expertise.
Contributed articles are labelled as 'Expert Contributed', and are not counted as editorial coverage of the author's firm; they play no part in any ranking, comparison or assessment.
8. Comparison and 'Best of' Articles
Inclusion is determined solely by editorial criteria. We will add any company on request if it qualifies, or explain the reason why it does not. This policy is tier-blind - any company may request inclusion in a future refreshed article version, whether or not that company is a paying customer.
9. Corrections
If we have a fact wrong, tell us and we will fix it. Any firm, professional or reader may ask for a factual correction and we act on all of them.
We don't accept requests to change how a firm is positioned, ranked or characterised. A firm may correct facts about itself, which we will reflect in the article, but whether such correction affects our assessment or ranking remains our editorial discretion. This policy ensures that our aims of accuracy and independence are maintained.
Substantive corrections will be noted in the article.
10. Conflict Disclosure
We will disclose matters that reasonably look like a conflict, on the page affected. This includes any commercial relationship between a listed firm and any business interests of our publisher.
11. Display Advertising
If in future we run display advertising, it shall be sold independently and served programmatically; no advertiser's listing, ranking, featured status, or editorial treatment shall be affected by it.
12. Commercial Terms
Our rate cards for company listings and advisor listings are published in full, setting out what's included for each tier and the costs. Our verified badge - what it asserts, how we check it, and how long it lasts - is explained on its own page.
Between them, those pages and this one describe the entire commercial relationship we have with anyone listed here. If you ever find a listing carrying an advantage that those pages do not explain, that is a mistake on our part and we would like to know about it.
