Testimonials: In Clients' Own Words
Each professional listed on UAE Advisor Guide may display client testimonials on their profile page. All testimonials must adhere to this Testimonial Policy.
1. What a Testimonial Is
On UAE Advisor Guide, a testimonial is a short statement by a client about the service they've received from a named professional, supplied to us by that professional.
Testimonials are about the individual, not the firm they work for. They stay with the professional's profile if the professional moves firm.
A testimonial is chosen by the professional who displays it. It is not:
- a review - we don't collect, solicit or moderate client reviews, and a professional's testimonials may not be a representative sample of their clients' views;
- a rating - testimonials carry no stars or scores, and we don't mark them up for search engines as reviews or ratings;
- an endorsement by us - publishing a testimonial does not mean we recommend the professional or their firm;
- a ranking factor - testimonials play no part in any comparison, 'best of' list, hub placement or assessment on this site.
2. Where Testimonials Appear
Testimonials appear only in a clearly marked Client Testimonials block on an individual professional's profile page. Every professional profile is a paid-for listing, and the number of testimonials allowed depends on its tier:
- Verified - up to 2
- Featured - up to 4
- Gold - up to 6
These limits are published on our rate card and apply on identical terms to every professional at that tier.
Testimonials never appear on company profile pages, in article bodies, comparison tables, further-reading lists, Expert Contributed articles or our newsletter. Testimonials don't carry links.
3. Verification by UAE Advisor Guide
At UAE Advisor Guide, we verify the facts behind our verified badge - who a professional is, their qualifications, and where they work. We don't formally verify testimonials, because we don't want any 'checked' label to suggest an assurance we can't give. Under this Testimonial Policy, we put the responsibility on the professional. A verified badge on a profile applies to the professional's identity and credentials. It doesn't extend to their testimonials.
4. Confirmation by the Professional
The professional confirms the following for each testimonial:
- It comes from a genuine current or former client, in the client's own words;
- It is reproduced accurately - shortened or anonymised only, without changing its meaning;
- The client has agreed to it appearing on a third-party website, including where it was taken from an email or other private message;
- It was not paid for, and was not given in return for any discount, gift or other benefit;
- It is about the professional's own service, and does not name or refer to any firm;
- Any current employer has no objection to it being displayed.
These undertakings are reconfirmed for each new testimonial and on each annual renewal of the professional profile.
5. Content Rules
Testimonials must comply with the following:
- About the professional's own service only - no firm names;
- No figures for investment returns or performance, and no statements that could be read as a promise of future results.
- No guarantees, and no comments about other firms or professionals.
- No product-specific recommendations.
- Plain text, no longer than 300 characters, with no links.
- Each testimonial shows the month and year it was given.
All testimonials require approval by UAE Advisor Guide before they appear. We reserve the right to decline any testimonial, with or without giving a reason. We don't edit wording ourselves - we either publish it as supplied or decline it.
6. Client Privacy and Attribution
Clients must not be identifiable. Attribution is limited to a first name and initial, or a general description - for example, 'Business owner, Dubai' or 'Retired expatriate, Abu Dhabi'.
We never publish a client's full name, contact details, photo, or any other identifying information alongside a testimonial.
7. Testimonial Labelling
Every Testimonials block carries the following statement:
Client testimonials are supplied by the profile owner. UAE Advisor Guide has not independently verified them; they may not be representative of other clients' experience.
8. Annual Reconfirmation
Professional profiles renew annually. At each renewal, the professional reconfirms every displayed testimonial against Section 4. Any testimonial that is not re-confirmed is removed.
Testimonials have no fixed expiry date. The date displayed lets readers determine recency.
9. Records and Checks
The professional keeps a record of each testimonial's source, and the client's agreement, for as long as the testimonial is displayed.
At any time, we may ask to see the record (redacted if necessary to protect the client's privacy), which must show the testimonial is genuine and the client has agreed. A testimonial is removed if a requested record is not produced within ten working days. An attributed client testimonial currently published on another site we accept, such as LinkedIn, may be considered by UAE Advisor Guide as a suitable record, provided that other all aspects of this Testimonial Policy are observed.
10. Removal
We remove a testimonial:
- At the professional's request;
- When it is not reconfirmed at renewal;
- When a record requested under Section 9 is not produced;
- When we have reason to doubt that it is genuine, accurate or compliant with this policy.
A professional must remove, or ask us to remove, any testimonial if the client withdraws their agreement, or if a current or new employer objects to it.
If we find that a professional has supplied a testimonial that is not genuine, we will remove all of their testimonials pending review, and may withdraw the feature from their listing. Our wider rights under our Terms of Use are unaffected.
If you are a client and a testimonial attributed to you appears on UAE Advisor Guide without your agreement, tell us and we will take it down while we look into it.
11. Regulatory and Employer Responsibility
Each professional is responsible for making sure their client testimonials comply with any rules that apply to them, including their regulator's rules on advertising and any policy of their employer.
Our approval of a testimonial for publication is not a confirmation that it meets any regulator's or employer's requirements.
