Crypto.com, a global cryptocurrency platform serving millions of users worldwide, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Changer.ae, an Abu Dhabi Global Market-regulated virtual asset service provider, to expand compliant digital asset services across the UAE. The partnership, formalised on January 6, 2026, aims to integrate institutional-grade infrastructure with local regulatory expertise to accelerate digital asset adoption among both retail and institutional clients.

The collaboration combines Crypto.com's global compliance capabilities with Changer's established presence and Financial Services Regulatory Authority licensing within ADGM. According to an official announcement from Crypto.com, the companies will explore initiatives including streamlined cryptocurrency-fiat conversion services, regulated custody solutions, and expanded financial use cases subject to regulatory approval.

Partnership Objectives and Service Integration

The primary focus centres on integrating Crypto.com's institutional solutions to simplify liquidity provision for Changer's existing conversion platform. This integration addresses a critical need for businesses and investors requiring seamless movement between traditional fiat currencies and digital assets within a regulated framework. Crypto.com contributes institutional-grade custody infrastructure and compliance technology built across global markets, while Changer brings an established user base and secure wallet platform already approved by ADGM authorities.

Eric Anziani, President and Chief Operating Officer of Crypto.com, stated that having strong local partners supports the company's efforts to provide best-in-class service and accelerate digital asset adoption. "As a global company it's important for us to have strong local partners who support our endeavours to provide a best in class service to our users," Anziani noted in remarks accompanying the announcement.

UAE Regulatory Environment Attracts Global Players

The partnership reflects the UAE's strategic positioning as a jurisdiction where financial innovation and regulatory oversight advance together. ADGM has established one of the region's most comprehensive virtual asset frameworks, emphasising consumer protection, market integrity, and institutional-grade standards. This regulatory clarity continues to attract global financial technology firms while building confidence among risk-conscious institutional investors.

Hao Wang, Senior Executive Officer of Changer, emphasised that the UAE has become a jurisdiction "where innovation and regulation move in parallel." The collaboration aims to broaden secure and compliant access to digital assets for users and businesses throughout the region. This follows recent regulatory progress including RAKBANK's in-principle approval for an AED-backed stablecoin and ADGM's finalised framework for fiat-referenced tokens.

Market Implications for UAE Financial Professionals

For wealth managers, financial advisors, and corporate service providers operating in the UAE, this partnership signals expanding opportunities in digital asset wealth management. As institutional-grade custody and conversion infrastructure becomes more accessible, advisory firms can more confidently recommend digital asset allocations to high-net-worth clients and family offices. The regulated custody solutions address a critical pain point that has historically limited institutional adoption.

Alain Yacine, President of Middle East and Latin America for Crypto.com, stated that expanding reach in the UAE while supporting innovation in the digital assets industry remains paramount. For corporate financial officers, the improved fiat-to-crypto conversion pathways may streamline treasury operations, particularly for companies with international operations or those seeking to diversify asset holdings within a compliant framework.
